According to court records, the former couple came to an agreement over property division, including their respective song catalogs, awards and guitars. Lavigne and Whibley became friends in 2002 and began dating in 2004. Whibley proposed to her in June 2005 during a trip to Venice, and they married in Montecito, California in July 2006. The couple announced their separation in September 2009, with Lavigne's divorce filing following on October 9 last year.
